My preschooler has an interesting relationship with doctors. She loves dressing up as a doctor but she is terrified when she needs to go see one herself. She loves giving her little brother shots and medicines but she would turn into a little monster if she needs to take those herself. When it comes to books, she absolutely loves stories about medical professionals and “Doctor Molly’s Medicine Case” is one of her favorite books that we have read it and “played” together many many times.
Summary of the Story
Molly loves to play dress up. This story is about Molly turning into Dr. Molly and her busy day of helping her animal friends feel better. From cold to sore throat to broken tail, Dr. Molly cures her friends with the help of her magical medicine case. This is an interactive book with pull-out-and-play elements, pockets, and flaps.
Why my kids like it
One way to judge if your kids like the book is by how many times it has been taped. Our book has gone through several “repairs” and is being held together by tapes. I feel that somebody punched me every time I see torn pages on the floor because this book is expensive. But I tell myself to take some deep breathes and focus on the playtime and learning that this book has given us.
My daughter loves this book so much that she has taken it in her bed to read and play during nap time many times. She especially loves the “picnic” page at the end.
Why mama likes it
This book has given my children many fun time together and lots of learning opportunities. They get to learn vocabulary of varies animals.
This is also a good “toy” book to have in your diaper bag when waiting for food at a restaurant/ waiting in line. I would keep an eye on how the kids “read” it though since the pull-out pieces can get lost easily.
I have created an activity set based on this book and you can download it here or on the resource page. I love creating activity sheets based on the books that my kids like. Not only do they reinforce what they have learned from reading the books, they are also fun activities for the little ones while you need time to get dinner ready lol.
